WORLDWIDE PANIC to release Alanis Morissette cover

It is not everyday that you would come across bands even mentioning the name Alanis Morissette, leave along covering one of her songs. Los Angeles based hard rock / heavy metal group WORLDWIDE PANIC are releasing a cover of the Canadian singer-songwriters ’90s hit “You Oughta Know”, February 8 2019 on all digital platforms.

Worldwide Panic frontman Lane Steele recalls how this outlandish idea came about: “We were in the middle of recording a bunch of songs in the studio for about a month or so. Long days, so I like to take baths. Baths where for some reason I watch cheesy reality shows such as Real Housewives, etc. I was in the bath watching this awful show that I have no clue as to why I like, and I started humming the intro melody to this song. I was like, ‘Huh, what song is that’? At that point I realized it was Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know”. I found the karaoke version and started to sing it in my style and thought is sounded pretty interesting. So I called the studio like I own it and said, ‘I need to get in there tomorrow!’ They wondered why, because our tracks were already done. I told them my idea and they replied, ‘That’s amazing, we will see you at 10 AM!’ I stayed up, wrote the demo, went in, and the rest is history, as they say. So, enjoy our twisted, dark and heavy rendition of a ’90s classic which is Worldwide Panic’s, ‘You Oughta Know’!
