Metal Allegiance at The Van Buren, 5yr Anniversary Coverage

The Van Buren in downtown Phoenix is the perfect venue to get up close with your favorite bands, medium sized, yet still an intimate setting,  I waited in anticipation for Metal Allegiance and seeing openers local sweethearts of metal Fatal Malady.

Fatal Malady blasted into their set with the power, energy and theatrics that Arizona has come to expect from the boys of bone. Precision and clean vocals marks this bands brand as well as their all black ensembles. Flawless every time.

So who is Metal Allegiance? MA is an American heavy metal supergroup, formed in 2015 by a long-time group of friends: Mark Menghi (bass, songwriter), David Ellefson co-founder of Megadeth (bass), Alex Skolnick: co-founder of Testament (guitar) and Mike Portnoy: co-founder of Dream Theater (drums). There is long host of individuals that contribute killer vocals, vicious guest guitar, while being backed up by these god-fathers of Metal.  Their current mini-tour hosts different special guests at each location, but Chuck Billy of Testament, John Bush of Armored Saint, Phil Demmel (Machine Head) and Troy Sanders (Mastodon) will be part of the full run. Nita Strauss (Alice Cooper), Gary Holt of Slayer, Max Cavalera from Soulfly and many others will joined in each city to bring a slightly different show to each location and each one was just magic.
