Patrick Crusius, 21, Reportedly Identified as Suspect in El Paso Walmart Shooting

Patrick Crusius has been identified as the suspect who allegedly open-fired at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas on Saturday, August 3. The attack left more than 20 victims dead or injured.

The shooter is reportedly from Dallas, Texas.

According to the Washington Examiner, some of the victims were locals who were outside of the store selling water. “He shot and killed locals that were fundraising outside the Walmart selling water. Children and adults,” a source told the website.

Unconfirmed reports have the death total at 20, with four of the victims being children.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a statement on the mass shooting.

“Today, the El Paso community was struck by a heinous and senseless act of violence. Our hearts go out to the victims of this horrific shooting and to the entire community in this time of loss. While no words can provide the solace needed for those impacted by this event, I ask that all Texans join Cecilia and me in offering our prayers for the victims and their families,” the statement read.

“The state of Texas and the Department of Public Safety are assisting the El Paso Police Department as they conduct their investigation. We have deployed troopers, special agents, Texas Rangers, tactical teams, and aircraft to the scene in a support role. The state of Texas will do everything it can to ensure justice is delivered to the perpetrators of this heinous act.”

Walmart also released a statement regarding the attack.

“We’re in shock over the tragic events at Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso, where store 2201 & club 6502 are located,” the retailer said. “We’re praying for the victims, the community & our associates, as well as the first responders. We’re working closely with law enforcement & will update as appropriate.”

Two people were shot an killed in the attack at a Walmart in Mississippi on Tuesday, July 30 which was carried out by a disgruntled former employee. The shooter was taken into custody. After initially carrying out the attack, the gunman exchanged fire with police officers in the parking lot of the store.
