JENA ROSE Debuts “Mad Man” Official Video

Fresh off of a tour opening for Aly & AJ, Texas-born LA-based up and coming pop artist Jena Rose has released the haunting official video for her single “Mad Man,” out everywhere today. The visual, directed by Gordy De St. Jeor and styled by Forever 21, premiered yesterday on V Magazine.

“Our goal with the video was to make it very vibe-y, dark, and visually appealing as well as reflect the message of the song,” Jena explained to V. “I wrote the song about a person in your life who is dragging you down, whether that’s a significant other, friend, or anyone else who is a negative influence on you. There’s also a lot of religious imagery in the song to play off the fact that this ‘Mad Man’ reflects the devil and you’re in hell when you’re with that person.”

“Man Man” is the follow up to “Manners,” the first single Jena released this year. Ladygunn Magazine described “Manners” as “the ‘female yin’ to male pop artists like Lauv’s yang.'”

Jena recently opened for the West Coast leg of Aly & AJ’s Sanctuary Tour, where she “warmed up the crowd with her energetic stage presence, resonant voice and raw musical talent” [Music Connection Magazine]. “I’m such a huge fan of Aly & AJ and it’s been a dream to open for them every night,” Jena expressed.

Jena Rose has dreamed up a sublime breed of indie-pop that’s daringly honest, irresistibly melodic, with entrancing EDM elements. Her first single of 2019 “Manners” premiered on Ladygunn Magazine, who dubbed the track “the good kind of pop that the charts have seemingly been missing as of late.” “On one hand, the song is simply about common courtesy,” Jena reflects on the track. “On the other hand, it’s much bigger than that. If we can all treat each other right and spread love, the world would be a better place.

Her early 2018 track “Reasons” earned praises from Billboard and was the #1 most added remix to the Billboard Dance Chart in its debut week. It has been her most successful single to date, reaching #14 on the club chart and streamed more than 100k times on Spotify. Her previous single “Sweet Love” was also a club hit, reaching #18 on the chart, surrounded by artists like Rihanna, Demi Lovato and Marshmellow.

Jena’s 2018 debut EP Reasons is a collection of songs written entirely by Jena on her piano. She recruited Grammy nominated writer and producer Druski (Tori Kelly, Zendaya) to elevate her songs even further, and the result is a sparkling, eclectic mix of piano-driven and indie-infused pop. In April and May of 2018, she opened up for Echosmith on their “Inside a Dream” tour, hitting 25 cities across North America. Most recently, Jena opened for Aly & AJ for their 2019 Sanctuary Tour. During tour, Jena released her newest single “Mad Man,” which was a crowd favorite during her performance.
