Howie Simon has uploaded a photos revealing a party supergroup that plays together privately from time to time featuring Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.
Simon wrote on Instagram, âSometimes at parties I jam with the bass player from Metallica, the drummer from the Foo Fighters, the guitarist from Iron Maiden, and my friend Richie. I hope Iâm not name dropping! Such a fun time â they always throw the best parties!
Foo Fighters are big fans of Metallica, and theyâll be performing together at the I Am The Highway: A Tribute To Chris Cornell show on January 16th in Los Angeles.
Dave Grohl discussed his Metallica fandom in a 2015 Creative Loafing interview.
âI hear that Metallica is releasing their first demo tape â on cassette â and that is fucking rad! I bought the first Metallica album on cassette from a mail-order catalog in 1983. I had never heard of them. I didnât know anything about them other than they had a cool name, and the description said âthrash metal.â I didnât even know what that meant. I had listened to tons of punk rock music, and I loved Motörhead, but thrash metal? That sounded scary and cool. So I sent them my $6 or $7 and a couple weeks later I get this tape in the mail. It was Kill âEm All and it blew my fucking mind. I will be a diehard Metallica fan until the day I die because of that experience. It was like someone had sent me the Holy Grail. I was like, âAhhh! This is so killer!â
So when I heard they were releasing their first demo I thought, âKick ass! And itâs on a cassette, too!â Thatâs going to be a lot of fun.â
