Tear Drop may be a newly formed band, but the group has serious chops. For one, the trio include among their ranks former Bitter End vocalist Griffin Jarzombek (they’re rounded out by guitarist Patrick Flanigan and drummer Ely Castillo). And as demonstrated by the recently released “Forever Scarred,” off their new EP, Did You Wanna Love Me to Death, the group knows how to deliver a beat down. Tear Drop showcase another side to their personality — one more befitting the band’s name, as well as the title of the upcoming release — with another of the EP’s tracks, a reverent rendition of Type O Negative classic “Love You to Death.” Today (September 16th), the band has teamed with Revolver — major Type O fans that we are — to premiere said cover, which they’ve dedicated to Power Trip’s Riley Gale and Iron Age’s Wade Allison. Stream it below. Did You Wanna Love Me to Death is available for pre-save now.

“We all love Type O so this was an easy choice for a cover,” says guitarist Patrick Flanigan. “This song is an incredible heavy ballad. We just did our best to do the song justice.”

Of the EP, which also includes a cover of Youth Brigade’s “Did You Wanna Die,” he adds, “The idea was for the two very different covers to show our wide range of influences. The theme of our songs are dealing with addiction and mental health. ‘Forever Scarred’ is a taste of what’s to come from a future full-length.”
