Some people would have assumed that given the multiple shocking allegations made against Marilyn Manson, there would have been a considerable drop off in people interested in his music. However, streams and both digital and physical sales have all increased for his music following the accusations made by actress Evan Rachel Wood. Streaming increased 7% for a total of 6 million steams, digital sales increased 40% to 2,000, and sales of his latest CD increased by 14% to 400 units sold in a week. That said, his latest single, “Don’t Chase The Dead,” has fallen out of Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay top 40 this week. This would seemingly indicate some radio stations have stopped playing his music.

The increase in streaming and sales but dropoff in radio play matches what has happened to recently disgraced country music star Morgan Wallen. He was caught on video using a racial slur but would see his music sales increase by 339%, with radio airplay dropping by 70%.

It should be noted that Manson denied the initial allegations made against him in a statement saying, “My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners.” Despite that, his manager of 25 years recently dropped him, and multiple other people continue to come out with their own upsetting stories about the rock star.
