Jerome, Ariz. – Puscifer have unveiled a second track from their forthcoming remix collection, Existential Reckoning: Re-Wired (March 31, Puscifer Entertainment/Alchemy Recordings/BMG), with today’s release of “Postulous (Re-Imagined by Phantogram)” (https://youtu.be/5ADizS8911Y).
“It’s always fascinating to hear how other artist’s approach your music, and Phantogram’s contribution to Re-Wired is no exception,” says Maynard James Keenan.
Phantogram’s Josh Carter sheds light on his affinity for the band and approach to tackling the track: “Puscifer is my favorite kind of band – a band whose sound you can’t quite put your finger on or fully describe unless you just listen to them. They have a playful, almost child-like innocence, yet a deliberate and brave sound all at the same time. I have been a fan of their music for quite some time and am so excited to be a part of this project. I really enjoyed working on this remix because I didn’t feel like I was stepping on the original integrity of the song, but rather pieced together their collage-like music in a different way that allowed me to pay tribute to the original, and shake hands and communicate with the original sonic landscape.”
Puscifer have released a companion remix album for each of their four studio albums with Existential Reckoning: Re-Wired offering the most eclectic line-up to date. Featuring a track-for-track re-imagining of the 12 songs from the record, Puscifer band members Mat Mitchell and Carina Round, along with current touring musicians Greg Edwards (Failure, Autolux) and Gunnar Olsen, reinterpret tracks from the prophetic, electro-laced release. Additional remixers include Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the aforementioned Phantogram, drummer Sarah Jones and Bring Me The Horizon’s Jordan Fish, Queens of The Stone Age guitar player Troy Van Leeuwen with Gone is Gone’s Tony Hajjar, oft-Puscifer contributor Juliette Commagere, keyboard player Alessandro Cortini (Nine Inch Nails), BBC 1’s Daniel P. Carter, and Tool’s Justin Chancellor with The Crystal Method’s Scott Kirkland.
Album pre-orders, including several limited-edition vinyl variants, are available now: https://puscifer.lnk.to/ReWired.
The band previously released “A Singularity (Re-imagined by Carina Round),” with Keenan sharing that the song was written for his late dog, MiHo, and simultaneously sharing a self-shot/edited video featuring the beloved pup. Several friends and family members, including A Perfect Circle’s Billy Howerdel, actor Yul Vázquez and Keenan’s daughter, Lei Li, created videos to accompany the piece which were rolled out over the past month, a playlist of those videos can be found here.

Born somewhere in the Arizona desert, Puscifer is an electro-rock band, multimedia experience, traveling circus, and alien abduction survivors. The group’s catalog consists of four full-length studio albums: “V” is for V****a [2007], Conditions of My Parole [2011], Money Shot [2015], and Existential Reckoning (2020) — in addition to a series of EPs and remixes. Beyond the core trio of Maynard James Keenan [vocals], Mat Mitchell [guitar, production], and Carina Round [vocals, songwriting], the group’s ever-evolving ecosystem encompasses Greg Edwards (bass, guitar, keys), Gunnar Olsen (drums), as well as a cast of characters such as Billy D and his wife Hildy Berger, Major Douche, Special Agent Dick Merkin, and many more. Meanwhile, the moniker’s origins can be traced to a 1995 episode of the HBO classic Mr. Show where Keenan first used the name “Puscifer.” In addition to tallying tens of millions of streams and views, they’ve piqued the curiosity of the press. Entertainment Weekly christened them, “Exceptionally groovy,” and Revolver fittingly described them as “indescribable.” Renowned for an immersive live show, the group’s performances blur the lines between concert and theater, traversing the dusty American Southwest with Billy D and Hildy or the sweaty squared circle with Luchadores. They’ve brought their unique live experience to life everywhere from Coachella to Bonnaroo. On their 2020 debut for Alchemy Recordings/Puscifer Entertainment/BMG entitled Existential Reckoning, Puscifer track Billy D back to the desert and, just maybe, uncover the truth about aliens once and for all.
