A night filled with cake, fish, and other exciting moments out at Rawhide Event Center in Chandler, AZ.
If you don’t know who Till Lindemann is, well he’s the lead singer of Rammstain. He brought his side project to Arizona along with Aesthetic Perfection, and Twin Temple for an amazing night of music and Shenanigans.
I arrived early like usual to scope the place out and check out merch and hang with the other photographers before the show.
Aesthetic Perfection hit the stage and was led by frontman, Daniel Graves. He moved the around the stage like a pinball engaging with the audience the entire set. Joining Graves on stage was guitarist and keyboardist NOIZITH and Brook Colucci on drums.
Coming to the stage second was the satanic group Twin Temple. A band I had never heard of they truly have a unique vibe to them. The striking vocals of Alexandra James, combined with partner and guitarist Zachary James’ vintage rock and roll rhythms created a retro vibe that transported you to another time. Alexandra voice was fantastic and delivered a haunting effect over the crowd. Their set was the ideal precursor for what was to come.
The last time I saw Till Lindemann was at T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas, Nevada in July of 2017 as he fronted Rammstein on one of the biggest stages I have ever seen.
With his voice that automatically demands attention, Till and his band Jes Paige, and Emily Ruvidich, Danny Lohner, Constance Day, and Joe Letz took the stage and immediately launched into a severe performance of “Zunge.”
The visuals were almost over whelming at times as the band all draped in red hit you with everything they could. Without the ability for his usual pyrotechnics at this smaller venue, I wondered what visual treats were in store for us instead. Till has a voice that is instantly recognizable and his solo material falls right in line with the heavy industrial sound Rammstein is noted for.
Raw fish launched, whole red velvet cakes tossed, keyboardist dancing on a stripper pole and more! Lindemann himself making his way through the crowd in a flashing red suit pulled by security pallbearer-style.
What more do you want from a show? That was just a few of the adventures given to the crowd. This was a one-of-a-kind performance unlike any of the hundreds of shows I’ve seen. Both the music and theatrics while at times were bewildering and even terrifying, they were also brilliant and thoroughly entertaining.
